“My work will be finished if I succeed in carrying motivation, self esteem and self belief in himself or herself to all I meet regarding their capability, potential and work-life balance – irrespective of age.” ~ Mahatma Ghandi (adapted) ~
Bart joined Third Foundation Systems in 1998, prior to the formation of Bioss SA. His 22 years of corporate work was mainly in the mining industry, initially in HR specialist and management roles and later in corporate level roles. He has been consulting and freelancing as a Bioss Associate for more than 10 years. The notion of “people is your main asset” becomes really apparent when realizing that the right people at the right place at the right time helps a lot making a business successful. The BIOSS approach and products support that largely – and understandably.
Listening to peoples’ stories
Since becoming a Freelance Consultant and Bioss Associate, I have met thousands of people and had discussions with them as individuals, with their managers, peers and subordinates. It always is interesting to talk to people and listen to their stories, especially their recollection of their careers, lives, experiences, their dreams for the future and their fears and joys. How they experience their work and working relationships will always interest me.
Preparing for the future
I am old enough in years to enjoy discussions with those who dream of the utopia that is to happen in their retired life. Yet as enjoyable some of these dreams are, so tragic are the stories of those who have not prepared themselves mentally, financially and physically for that major change in their lives. Many a time the dream loses its shine when reality dawns upon them that they no longer mean anything to an employer or to colleagues, and instead of “normal customs”, they face a new stretch into uncertainty.
