What We Do

INDIVIDUAL CAPABILITY AND POTENTIAL

Our rationale is that the capability of leadership and staff inside the organisation should match the complexity of the industry and environment, especially in uncertain times and with globalisation demands.

Accordingly we offer a suite of services to assist organisations in determining how people will manage uncertainty, ambiguity and turbulence, as well as whether individuals will consolidate, or continue to develop over time.

The services range from the well-established and in-depth CPA (Career Path Appreciation) process, to an electronic version of the CPA (MCPA), or specific applications to identify potential for target populations such as junior management, supervisors, other operational staff or new recruits / graduates (IRIS and Point).

What makes the Bioss approach different and unique is that we view people assessment / development from a time and growth perspective. Our rationale is that work differs in complexity and decision time-span at the various organisational work themes, and that individuals’ ability to deal with these work themes will also differ, and develop, at different rates. Much of our focus as an organisation is to assist companies in achieving the optimum match between work and people. Our assessment tools can be used to assess the individual’s suitability for a position, or strengths and developmental areas, or to identify the dynamics and potential of a team.

Based on our approach we offer a spectrum of services, ranging from traditional psychometric assessment, work theme-specific assessment centres or technology-based alternatives suppliedby our strategic partner EDAC.

EDAC is a ‘full service’ assessment or assessment centre and Internet-based support system that combines the cost efficiency and savings of technology-based assessment. Although administered electronically, trained facilitators provide personal and individual feedback, as well as a written report. Its components are LPA™ a fully computerised ‘expert’ psychometric assessment system, and EDA™ a 360-degree questionnaire, as well as the MCPA™ capability assessment.

We also offer training to administer and/or interpret all our assessment technologies, as well as writing integrated reports enabling management decision making regarding the selection, promotion or further development of employees or potential employees.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

Our leadership development services including assisting individuals with actualising their potential (individual or team coaching) as well as general development of daily leadership efficacy.

We focus on leadership efficacy development, or helping to define the most effective way of working between individuals and their work, including the way in which work is agreed / allocated, targets set, performance reviewed and feedback given. Detailed information is provided about the working relationships between the leader, the individual team members and the leader’s own manager.

The coaching process assists those with established leadership potential to understand their unique strengths, weaknesses and factors that may inhibit the achievement of their potential, as well as to decide on their optimal career advancement strategy. Training is offered to assist leaders to develop the required skills to have appreciative conversations, as well as give honest and authentic feedback.

ROLE AND JOB PROFILING

The formal reporting relationships implied by organisation structures often do not reflect the reality of the work actually taking place. To overcome these difficulties a review is required of the organisational responsibilities or the work that staff need to carry out. This can take the form of:

  • Identification of the overlaps / duplication or existing gaps for improvements in reporting lines / structure / design of roles.
  • Comparison of the current roles against the business strategy and how the organisation could develop these roles in the future in order to deliver its strategy.
  • Achieving balance between the needs of the different stakeholders – customers, employees, shareholders, and communities.
  • Alignment of business processes to deliver strategy.

Bioss also offers a unique team profiling methodology to assist in designing optimal teams with optimal levels of “interchangeability” in their roles and complimentary group dynamics.

TALENT AND SUCCESSION MANAGEMENT

Talent Pool Mapping to indicate the reserves available for future staffing needs, as well as where new recruitment activities should be focused. This helps organisations to identify, retain and motivate high potential individuals by matching capability and challenge in a way that ensures effective decision-making and role satisfaction.

This builds organisational effectiveness, and resilience which maximises individual capabilities and creativity, empowering people to deliver a superior return on investment. An added benefit will be that people are not under-utilised and frustrated, or “in over their heads” and badly stressed, and assists in succession planning, development, and in aligning reward systems.

ORGANISATIONAL ARCHITECTURE

The Matrix of Working Relationships (MWR) identifies the themes of work required for organisational success. Each work theme is differentiated on the basis of increasing complexity and decision-making time scales, as well as a specific value-adding theme that provides a unique contribution to the flow of work within organisations by doing work that is completely different and by making provision for each reporting level to do the same.

This provides an effective way of addressing the many challenges facing organisations, providing a robust framework for organisational diagnostics and the management of change.

Practical applications thus include organisational design, restructuring to competencies, catering for multi-skilling, broad-banding, to the design of performance management systems.

The Bioss offering includes a team of experts assisting organisations, or building internal capacity through appropriate and practical training.
