Doctor Rica Viljoen is the Head of Department of People Management at the Da Vinci Institute for Technology Management in South Africa. She is a senior research fellow at the University of Johannesburg, where she lectures in Professional Leadership and Organisational Behaviour. She has supervised more than 30 masters and doctoral studies over the last five years and successfully coached numerous business leaders, in South Africa and internationally.
Rica is a master organisational development practitioner, associated with numerous professional bodies. Her PhD-thesis was nominated in 2008 by the Academy of Management as one of the ten most promising doctoral theses in the field of Management and Spirituality, and focused enabling sustainability through inclusivity. She is the founder and owner of Mandala Consulting, a niche change and development company that specialises in multi-cultural research, integral theory, facilitation and spiral dynamics. Her corporate career was spent as strategic human resource executive in one of the biggest banks in South Africa.
Rica has over two decades of international organisational development experience and conducted cultural research in 42 countries. She developed the Benchmarked of Engagement that describes levels of human energy in social systems that currently has a database of more than 50 000 participants. Rica is working closely with Doctor Loraine Laubscher on assisting diverse groups valuing differences of thought. She recently published a book on Inclusive Organisational Transformation through Asghate (2015), a book on Organisational Development through Knowledge Resources (2015) and contributed various chapters in academic books. Rica is one of the co-founders of the Mandala Centre for Integral Development in South Africa.
